The Well Baby Visit (age 12 mos and up)

The first impressions are very important. By having your child come for a “well-baby” check up, you are establishing a program of early, preventive care. We prefer to see your child while healthy, and help you to keep your child from ever needing extensive dental treatment.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that every child establish a dental home by the time their upper front teeth come in, which is usually by about 12 months of age. A preventive program can then be tailored to your child’s specific needs.

As “Pediatricians of the mouth”, when your child comes to see us, we will have a chance to:
welcome your child to their new “Dental Home”

  • assess your child’s Caries Risk through a detailed history, questionnaire, and visual exam
  • provide you with information about healthy dietary and feeding suggestions
  • assess your child’s oral growth and development
  • evaluate the need for dietary supplements of fluoride
  • apply a powerful fluoride varnish to your child’s teeth for highly effective fluoride uptake
  • provide a 24 hour contact number should a dental problem arise
  • become familiar with an environment that knows your child’s dental needs!
